CAMPBELL FAMILY - STAYED AT FINCA COLIBRI IN AUGUST 2008
Reservation process.
I was attracted to Dominical given its location and natural beauty and the appeal that it was less of a tourist destination than Manuel Antonio.
With that in mind I began an internet search for accommodations and found Finca Colibri and immediately made contact with Neil Harding regarding our travel dates.
Neil responded immediately and we confirmed out travel dates.
The deposit process was very easy and straightforward with clear, concise money transfer instructions, which once received by Neil, he promptly confirmed our reservations.
Being that it was our first trip to Costa Rica, I had numerous questions about the house, area and country in general, Neil was always available to answer and advise us prior to our arrival. We chose to drive from Arenal going the route that Neil advised us.
Finca Colibri.
We arrived a little early at Neil’s home and were greeted by his lovely wife who invited us in to await his return. Once meeting Neil we followed him to Finca Colibri and were overwhelmed by the stunning scenery and natural beauty of the home and its surroundings. The website pictures do not do it justice in its location.
It was our first time staying in an open plan house and a wondrous way to experience the forest and the wildlife. Traveling as a family, the large and open floor plan allowed for lots of privacy and individual quiet time.
The second floor balcony wrapped around the house gave us numerous wildlife viewing opportunities, and being nature lovers we had binoculars and spent our mornings enjoying coffee watching monkeys, toucans and we identified 55 different bird species from our Field Guide to Costa Rica Wildlife.
The swimming pool was fantastic relaxing amenity we enjoyed after the many outdoor activities we enjoyed during our stay, also the luxury of a washer and dryer was a welcome feature after being on the road for a week staying in hotels before we arrived.
The young Tico family who manage the property were a delight, the house was promptly cleaned everyday, dishes washed and fresh linens restocked all according to our schedule and never once was it intrusive.
Dominical.
Upon arrival at Finca Colibri, Neil gave us a very detailed orientation about the area, he shared his very intimate knowledge of stores, restaurants, internet cafes, beaches and referred us to Dominical Surf & Adventures with whom we booked a raft trip, took surfing lessons and arranged zip line tours and whale watching. I would highly recommend Henry and Norma as we were treated like family and they went above and beyond our expectations of a tour company.
Dominical is once of the friendliest towns I have ever visited with a unique character rarely found in any of our travels.
Neil stopped by a couple of times to check in with us and see if he could help us in any way.
We were very sad to leave Dominical and the morning of our departure Neil arrived to refund our cash deposit and surprised our daughter with some souvenirs from an overnight trip he had made to Panama.
We are still in awe of our trip to Costa Rica and our stay and accommodations at Finca Colibri and our experiences in Dominical. We usually like to travel to a different location each year but find ourselves already planning a return to Dominical to Finca Colibri
Sincerely,
Odran Campbell
